About Me and The Blog

Howdy, I am Doug Cox and I am a father, musician, producer and music lover living on Vancouver Island in BC, Canada.

I play the Dobro, Guitar and Mandolin and have been lucky enough to tour all over North America and Europe. I’ve had lots of fun in the studio over the years.

I really enjoy all kinds of music as long as it’s good. How do you define good? Let’s talk about that in one of the posts, shall we?

I also like to goof around and I’m basically lazy unless I’m involved in something I really like to do!

I am a lazy workaholic.

I have 4 beautiful kids who are all smarter than I.  I’m about to become a grandfather. I guess it’s fair to say I’m at that stage in life where there is lots to reflect on which is partly why I have decided to start this blog.

I have lots of archives I’d like to share with you which is another reason for this space.

I am a strong believer in music and community and the personal journey of music. That’s what this will mostly be about.

I currently produce the Vancouver Island MusicFest  and have been doing so for 18 years now.

I am also the Camp Director for the Folk Alliance International Music Camp.

Thanks for checking me out – I intend to post something at least once a week.

Please subscribe to the Blog and say hello in the comments section.

I look forward to questions and comments. However, any behaviour I deem to be abusive towards myself or others will cause your comments to be removed and you will be blocked from being able to participate on any future posts. I don't mind disagreements so long as the conversation remains positive and friendly!
Also, any posts used to advertise yourselves or pitch anything to me will be removed and you will likely be blocked from further involvement. No offence, but that isn't what this space is for.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog! Let me know what you think.
